My Bible Ages: 8-10 yrs.

Best Use

Start when your child is five and continue to encourage this as they grow

older. If you are already having a family devotion, you can incorporate

prayer into what you are already doing.

Nutritional Value

“My Bible” helps your child begin to make the transition from being “read

to” and learning about the Bible to setting aside time alone with God and

His Word every day. The Bible changes us. It has a way to transforming us

into people who don’t just try to act more like Christ, but who are more like

Christ. For this to be a reality in the life of your child, it is important for a

parent to help them start out on their own personal journey. On this

journey, they will develop of love for God’s Word. As kids get older, it is

important for parents to encourage kids to spend time in God’s Word each day themselves.

Advance Preparation

Serve It Up

Follow the steps on the reverse side to serve this up in your home.

1. Continue to teach: Create time for family Bible activities. Games such as

“Bible Trivia” can help your child become more comfortable in how to use

their Bibles. Use a book or a game. You can also try “Outburst Bible

Edition.” Your kids will love spending this time with you.

2. Encourage them to find the time: As parents, help your child find the

time each day to spend time with God. Help them learn to plan this into

their day. Create places in their schedule where this can happen. When

days are missed, don’t make them feel guilty but encourage them to start

again the next day. Make this a positive time each day.

3. Provide them with the tools they need: Provide your child with the

things they need to be successful! Take a trip to Lifeway or another

bookstore. Help them find a Bible or study Bible they can understand and

perhaps a devotional book/and or journal. Make this a great family outing.

Devotional books that are age appropriate can help your child develop an

individual plan for Bible reading and prayer.

4. It’s worth the investment: We provide money for all kinds of things for

our kids. Make it a priority for your child to have the resources they need to

be successful! What better investment is there than an eternal investment?

Be creative and come up with trivia and games on your own. Partner with

other families who have kids the same age for a trivia and Bible game night.

Remember Be Intentional: Parent with the end in

sight!
