HomePointe Foundations
Family Devotions Ages: 2—4 yrs.
Best Use
Start when your child is two & continue through ages three and four.
Nutritional Value
“Family Devotions” help your child develop a love for God’s Word at an
early age that they will carry throughout their life. This foundation will help
children begin reading their Bible as a part of their daily life. The main point
of starting “Family Devotions” early in a child’s life is to build spending time
with God into the rhythm of their life early. This regularity of learning is
much more important than the depth of content and creating a desire to hear
from God.

Serve It Up
Follow these steps to serve this up in your home.
1. Be consistent. Pick a time of day that will allow you to be consistent. Some
suggestions are first thing in the morning, at breakfast, after dinner, or as a
part of your bedtime routine.
2. Keep it short. For a 2-yr-old child, start with one story a day from a toddler
Bible and a short prayer. As your child gets older, you can add other
activities but keep the core Bible reading and praying together as a part of
each devotion.
3. Keep it simple. Remember to keep it age appropriate for your child. Select
a Bible story book that is at their age level. Much more important than the
content of learning is that you are spending time regularly focused on God.
4. Have fun. Occasionally add other activities so your child learns that there
is joy in their relationship with God.
5. Talk with your child. Begin to develop spiritual conversation with your
child.
Bubble Activity (found on DVD) - Blow bubbles as you walk around the
room. Encourage your child to pop the bubbles repeating a basic Bible truth.
For example: “Jesus loves (child’s name),” “God loves me,” “I love Jesus,”
“Thank you, God.”
Remember: Be Intentional: Parent with the end in sight!
