Best Use
Start when your child is a baby and continue throughout their life.
Nutritional Value
“Family Blessing” is one way to incorporate blessing into your home. The blessing is a powerful tool which we use to communicate acceptance and genuine commitment to a child or loved one.The word comes from the ancient practice of weighing coins on a scale to determine value. Blessing others “adds value” to his or her life. “Family Blessing”demonstrates how to speak God’s words over your child. When speaking God’s words over your child, they are not just hearing about your faith but experiencing it.
This foundation in your family:
- Taps into God’s power and authority in the life of your child
-
Builds a spiritual wall of protection surrounding your child
-
Is built and reinforced by your love and faith
-
Is reinforced brick by brick each time you bless your child

Serve It Up
Follow these steps to serve this up in your home. Pick a time of day that will allow you to be consistent to bless your child. Gather your baby in your arms, or as your child grows older set them on your lap or place your hands on them. Speak a verse from the Bible over your child.
Some suggestions as you start are:
“The Lord bless you and keep you: the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
“Keep this child from all harm. Watch over their life; watch over their coming and going both now and forevermore.”(Psalm 121:7-8)
Consider writing out some verses on an indexcard that you will use.
Change them once a week or once a month.Consider also placing indexcards with the same verses on them on your bathroom mirror or in your car and when you see them, pray a short prayer for your child.
Remember Be Intentional: Parentwith the end in sight!
